Shingled solar panels vs. conventional panels: A comprehensive comparison
In this section, we are going to explain the key differences between standard solar panels and shingled solar panels, considering their most important aspects and features.
What is the Shingle Solar Module
Type of Cells: Both traditional and shingled solar cells are made of typical semiconducting and light-absorbing materials, for example, crystalline silicon, thin films, heterojunctions, or N-type IBC. However, the most relevant difference between conventional and shingled solar cells in terms of their composition and structure—is the interconnection or layout of them.
Interconnection of Cells:Every solar panel contains different amounts of cells interconnected or arranged in different ways depending on the desired output.
In general, conventional modules can contain 32, 36, 48, 60, 72, and 96 cells. The cells are placed in a rectangular or square shape with spaces between them. Then, by means of high soldering processes, these spaces are filled by copper busbars or ribbons which provide interconnection between the solar cells. Moreover, traditional cells are commonly connected in series.
AE Solar Module Quality
Gallium-doped Mono c-Si PERC, Half-cut cells, 210 mm, Germanium has a band gap of 0.7 eV. This means that germanium can absorb photons with a lower energy than silicon, which can lead to a higher efficiency. However, germanium is more expensive than silicon and is not as abundant.Automation helps us to provide precise assembly, avoid defects, and lower down the costs by speeding processes to achieve proper price to quality ratio. All production lines are controlled by centralized software and each robot and machine detects and reports any malfunction online, so our engineers and operators can instantly react. Manufacturing buildings are equipped with full temperature, humidity, and dust control equipment.
Areas of storage, warehouses, offices, and other facilities are separated and isolated from the manufacturing room to get the best quality performance. Each assembly stage ends up with a quality check to make sure that internal defects like micro-cracks, black spots, mixed cells of different efficiency, processing defects, insufficient soldering, internal foreign materials, cell gaps, corner defects, breakages, scratches, ribbon misalignments will not be passed to the next stage. Our testing stations comply with AAA+ standards and label marking of output after final flash testing and sorting is done only at positive tolerance.

Half Cut Cells
Half-cut solar cells are a type of solar cell design that has gained popularity in recent years due to its potential to increase the efficiency of solar panels. In this design, a standard solar cell is cut in half, with each half connected in series to create a “half-cut cell.” This design offers several advantages over traditional solar cell designs.  One of the main advantages of half-cut solar cells is their improved efficiency. By cutting a solar cell in half and connecting the two halves in series, the electrical current is split between the two halves. This reduces the amount of current flowing through each half, which in turn reduces the amount of energy lost to heat. As a result, half-cut solar cells can achieve higher energy conversion efficiency than traditional solar cells.  Another advantage of half-cut solar cells is their improved durability. Because the electrical current is split between the two halves of the cell, each half is subjected to less stress and strain than a traditional solar cell. This can help to reduce the risk of cell cracking and other forms of damage, which can extend the lifespan of the solar panel.
Solar Cell Size
The size of solar cells is an important factor in determining the overall performance and efficiency of a solar panel. Generally speaking, larger solar cells are more efficient than smaller ones because they are able to capture more sunlight and convert it into electricity. No Lid And PID Degration
In the field of solar energy, two terms that are frequently discussed are LID (Light-Induced Degradation) and PID (Potential-Induced Degradation). Both LID and PID refer to the reduction in performance that can occur in solar panels over time, and are therefore important considerations when selecting solar panels for a particular application. LID is a phenomenon that occurs in some types of solar cells, where the initial exposure to sunlight can cause a temporary decrease in efficiency.  PID, on the other hand, is a more serious issue that can occur in solar panels under certain conditions. PID is caused by the build-up of a negative potential in the solar panel, which can occur when the panel is exposed to a high-voltage electrical source, such as a lightning strike or a nearby power line. This negative potential can cause the solar cells to degrade over time, leading to a permanent decrease in efficiency. Overall, LID and PID resistance are important factors to consider when selecting solar panels for a particular application.
